New move means big business

Stamford Auction Rooms has come a long way since Jessica Wall created the company, expanding and moving to new premises in the heart of Stamford, Lincolnshire earlier this year.

With two large salerooms, consultation room, photography studio, welcoming reception, and a large car park, it makes visiting Stamford Auction Rooms an enjoyable experience, especially when greeted with a tea or coffee when having a free valuation.

The specialist sales, live online bidding, competitive buyers and sellers commission help achieve excellent hammer prices, and Jessica encourages people to bring any items in for valuation, even if people don’t think they are worth anything because as she says, “it’s often the items that people don’t expect to be valuable that actually are.”

October sees the introduction of the new Automobilia Auctions which includes a huge variety of vintage cars, motorbikes, automotive memorabilia and collectables.

Stamford Auction Rooms are also selling a vast private collection of specialist Chinese and Japanese textiles and works of art from the 18th century onwards on 26th October at 10am and Dr Jocelyn Chatterton, the collector, and the author of Chinese Silks and Sewing Tools has worked together with Jessica to create an auction full of incredible items that are seldom seen on the market, and which Dr Chatterton has spent a lifetime collecting.

Pieces include Chinese silk applique spectacle cases, circa 1930, and children’s hats in the form of tiger heads, made to confuse evil spirits and protect the wearers.

Other textiles include clothing, panels, fabric, purse, children’s collars, sewing tools and works of art.

Jessica says that there is something for everyone in this auction, with lots ranging from small pieces to huge wall hangings, but even if people are unable to buy, it is worth coming to the viewing on the 24th and 25th October just to see how remarkable the collection is.

Stamford Auction Rooms invites you to a private viewing on Thursday 24th October 2019 between 5pm and 6pm, prosecco and canapés upon arrival, followed by a talk on the subject by Dr Jocelyn Chatterton at 6pm.
