Tennis tournament celebrates 60 years

Over 200 people attended a celebration lunch to mark the 60th year of the Sandilands and Sutton on Sea Tennis Tournament. The event was held in a marquee on the lawn of the Grange and Links Hotel. Nostalgic memorabilia together with all the trophies up for grabs this year were on display.

Tennis week has become a mainstay of house and chalet owners at Sandilands and this year there were almost 400 entrants ranging from U10s to more senior players. A mixed doubles family competition has been added in this celebration year which has been popular and allowed for cross-generation tennis. The tournament always runs the first full week of August and culminates in the finals on Friday, followed by a dinner dance for around 300 competitors and friends of the tournament.
