Only one month to go

August 2019

It’s amazing to think it has been four months since we opened the voting for the 2019 Taste of Excellence Awards. We have received a phenomenal number of nominations, for more businesses than in previous years, so it’s great to see that news of the awards is reaching further each year.
August is always the time we receive the bulk of our nomination forms, and Kellie our administrator is gearing up for the big parcels from the postman. All these votes then need to be sorted by category and business name. No easy task but we are well prepared. The deadline for getting your nominations in is 31st August. For more details or for our online nomination form visit www.lincolnshirelife.co.uk

Once all the votes have been collated we send our judges out to visit the top venues in each category. As you can imagine, visiting all these businesses is a time-consuming job, but all are experts in their fields and we are assured the judging will be completed to the highest level.

We’ll be announcing the finalists in each category at the beginning of September and you’ll be able to see all the finalists on our social media pages, but we’ll also be sending emails, so don’t forget to keep an eye on your inbox.

This year our awards will be taking place on Thursday 7th November at the Engine Shed in Lincoln. We’re finalising the details of our theme and will be announcing it next month, so don’t forget to come back and see what we’re up to for 2019.

This month we’d like to welcome our new sponsors. Taste Lincolnshire is the new food membership organisation from the team at Visit Lincoln and they are sponsoring our Restaurant of the Year category. Taste Lincolnshire celebrates food and drink from the county and the hard work and dedication of those businesses which grow, produce, sell and serve it.

Sponsoring the Confectioner of the Year category is Stokes Tea & Coffee. Stokes Tea & Coffee has been a family run business since 1902. Their vast range of tea and coffee is sourced, blended, roasted and packed in their Lincoln home at The Lawn. Not only do they supply wholesale and retail products, they have three Stokes Cafés in the heart of Lincoln where they offer homemade food including a luxurious afternoon tea and of course, their signature tea and coffee.

We only have a couple of sponsorship opportunities available, so if you want to be part of Lincolnshire’s favourite Food and Drink awards get in touch with Katrina on 01522 689671 or email k.burrill@km-media.co.uk

We also have our hotly fought Chef of the Year competition which is sponsored by Freshtime. This is the perfect place for chefs to showcase their creative flair. We are very lucky to be working with the team at College Hall, RAF Cranwell where the successful chefs invited to take place in our cook-off will get the opportunity to produce their menu for our distinguished judges.

Last but by no means least, our Young Chef competition where we are looking for stars of the future. Open to chefs under the age of 24, our judges are looking for creative flair and attention to detail. The competition will take place in October and we’re happy to welcome aboard Pilgrim Food Service as our sponsors this year.

For more details on either of our chef competitions or to request a nomination form contact Katrina on 01522 689671 or k.burrill@km-media.co.uk September 20th is the deadline for the nominations.
