Whether you’re hungry for breakfast, looking forward to lunch or planning a special evening out, the bistro-inspired menu at The Nest offers a range of delicious options.

Highly rated for its excellent food, stylish interior and welcoming ambiance, The Nest restaurant and bar at Bainland Lodge Retreats near Woodhall Spa offers a relaxing environment to enjoy time out.

The restaurant is part of this highly-rated peaceful getaway location, set within a 45-acre eco-park featuring a collection of family-friendly, self-catering lodges and cabins, with outstanding designs and facilities.

Open to Bainland holiday guests and members only, the super-friendly and professional hospitality team at The Nest, which is also pet-friendly, have earned a reputation for delivering an exceptional all-day dining experience.

There is also a stylish bar serving an extensive drinks menu, including creative cocktails, spirits and wines from around the world, plus Stokes teas and coffees, together with an inviting, cosy covered terrace bar with open fires with comfy sofas and seating, which is popular for get-togethers in warmer months.

Led by The Nest general manager Gavin Whitworth and executive chef Callum Hawkins, the restaurant is renowned for its specialised dry-aged steak experience, which not surprisingly has become a signature dish.

Thanks to its magnificent state-of-the art dedicated, temperature-controlled Williams Meat Ageing Refrigerators, diners are treated to high-quality, matured cuts, perfectly cooked to order.
All premium quality steaks are dry-aged on the bone for a minimum of 28 days while the Himalayan Sea salt helps draw out the moisture, making for a more intense beef flavour and superior texture.

MENU CHOICES
We dined in The Nest’s spacious and stylish main dining area midweek and enjoyed Lincolnshire Poacher croquettes with tomato and chilli chutney, together with chicken liver parfait, served with lightly toasted garlic focaccia, apple and fig purée and hazelnut butter.

Both were well dressed dishes, creatively presented and flawlessly flavoured with each ingredient earning its rightful inclusion.

These also proved the perfect introduction to the excellent selection of main meals which include family-friendly dishes such as a range of burgers – chicken, plant based and beef (from £17), as well as  salads – Caesar, Goats Cheese, or Crab (from £14) – with gluten-free options also available.

Keeping it light, we followed with butter roasted chicken breast supreme, served with roasted cauliflower purée, sautéed kale, toasted almonds, oyster mushroom, Dauphinoise potatoes, together with a light splash of chicken and thyme jus.

The perfectly baked plaice, which was impeccably cooked, soft and flaky, was teamed with a delicate white wine velouté, together with dill infused apple, cavolo nero, clam butter and Parmentier potatoes.

Both dishes were freshly cooked with care, elegant and full of flavour.

The desserts also proved a triumph – the Yorkshire Tea crème brulée featuring chocolate orange shortbread, orange powder and piquant orange purée, while the indulgent butterscotch tart featured hazelnut crumb, butterscotch cream, whipped chocolate ganache and was topped with chocolate ‘soil’ – the perfect end to a memorable experience.

Guests and members seeking culinary excellence and a warm, inviting atmosphere are definitely well catered for, with a special fledglings menu for children and even a dog menu for four-legged friends!

Plus, don’t miss their special evenings with live music and entertainment, where you can immerse yourself in the melodies while enjoying the carefully curated menus.
